We respect your privacy. This policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have under Canadian law (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial laws.
1. Information we collect
Account data: email, display name, optional avatar, optional phone number, preferred language. Activity data: businesses you save, reviews you post, helpful votes, reports you file. Technical data: IP address (hashed), browser type, basic analytics about page views and clicks. When a business owner shares a request asking customers to leave a review, we record which language template was used (RU/UK/EN) and that the visitor arrived through that link — used to measure the effectiveness of these requests. No personal data of recipients is collected.
2. How we use it
To provide the Service, to moderate content, to send transactional emails (account confirmation, moderation decisions, replies to your reviews), to prevent abuse, and to improve the product.
3. Email notifications
You can opt out of non-essential email notifications at any time in your profile. We will still send required transactional emails (security alerts, moderation decisions on your own listing).
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data with service providers that help us run geckon (hosting, database, email delivery) under standard data-processing agreements. We may disclose information when required by law.
5. Storage and security
Data is stored on Supabase infrastructure with industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. We use row-level security to ensure your data is only accessible by you and our moderators when needed.
6. Your rights
You may access, correct or delete your data at any time. Deleting your account removes your profile, businesses, reviews and saved items permanently. To make a request that you cannot perform yourself, contact us.
7. Children
geckon is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
